A HOUSE IN THE TREES

After all that snow I need some green. I'm dreaming of waking up to the sound of birds and and seeing nothing but green when I look outside. I'm dreaming of a house in the trees!

One of my favourite taschen publications from last year was tree houses: fairytale castles in the air by Philip Jodidio. It features photographs (and wonderful illustrations by Patrick Hruby) of 50 extraordinary tree houses from all over the world.

Designers and architects are beginning to take treehouses seriously - they used to be playhouses for children, now they're being turned into hideaways for grown ups, guest houses, even homes.

Are you dreaming with me?

p.s. I know I've talked about this before but in case you missed it: I recommend watching this short video about artist Jay Nelson who builds treehouses (and more).

Oh, a friend shared this book with me recently and our conversation stopped for a few minutes as I couldn't stop turning the pages. It's lovely.

@Musa: thank you for stopping by again - too bad I don't understand enough french to read and comment on your blog!
@Sylee: I got the book as a christmas present for my father in law - you know, the kind of present you're actually buying for yourself...
